Howdy!

I'm Divya.

As a screenwriter, critic and producer, words are everything to me; I have a tattoo on my arm that fits letters A-Z and numbers 0-9 in its design — everything I’ve ever read, heard, watched or made, right there above my inner elbow. The tattoo is a reminder and signal both. A daughter of Indian immigrants, I seldom saw myself represented in the arts. The idea of sympathetic imagination — connecting people lacking shared experiences by fostering empathy — was therefore ingrained in me, and is my key ideological interest. Words have meaning and power, and I want to use them to help people better understand themselves and each other.

Partly in service of this goal, in 2024 I co-founded the production company Boxer & Baker alongside my creative partner of nearly a decade. I’m also co-editor of Periphery Magazine, an arts/culture publication dedicated to unique and undertold stories.

My education in film production (NYU; 2023) and journalism (USC; 2025), as well as on-set, workplace, and general life experience has shaped me into the person and artist I am today. I love collaborating with and learning from the people around me, and try to honor them as best possible in the work I create, whether that be an article or a film.

I'm currently based on Los Angeles, but make frequent stops in the Bay Area and New York City. Fill out the form below to say hi!
